Greetings LIVE (sorta) from the front door of Target, which is currently holding hostage my Wii #16 Unit. I have the receipt to prove it:

Wii Number 16!

It’s only 15 more minutes before we can all go in, browse the goods, and have our wallet deducted at least US$250, and be on our way home. Target is running a deal where if you buy 3 Wii games, you get a $20 Target Gift Card, which is a nice bonus, considering that they don’t even have to do anything to garner this incredible crowd.

I decided to get in line because I tried to get a Wii last night with absolutely no luck at Walmart. Apparently, they gave out tickets at 10pm for the midnight giveaway. The three Walmarts I visited all said the same, and remarks by the Wii-Waiters pretty much said the same. Other Targets have lines up to 100 people, and Best Buy also had lines of 20 people late last night. Heck, check this guy out:

Wii Number Two Fan

He was here at 10:30pm last night, in this getup. Now for those of you who don’t understand Phoenix — it is a desert. Deserts get hot during the day, and yet get absolutely cold at night. This guy is a mark of true Phoenixican — able to tolerate, and outright enjoy this weather as he and his friend/wife/lover/whatever wait for their Wii.

Time for me to get my Wii. Wish me luck!

Seen at a local Walmart here in Phoenix — the line of people waiting for the ever-exclusive Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3)

PS3 Line

You know competition is getting serious when the OTHER group of people with Too Much Time On Their HandsTM realizes that they can supplement their retirement funds with eBaying a PS3 for $10,000.

Too bad they’re not in a line for the Nintendo Wii. Fastest path to early grave = old heart while trying not to be a toolbox.

(Actually, the line is on the other side of the entrance, surrounded by far too many carts for Walmart’s own good, filled with plenty of early 20s male profit-seekers who will be highly disappointed come midnight tonight due to lack of PS3 availability beyond a select few.)

Good news, for those who do not want to figure out how to read my trip report which was posted in a daily order (which appears in reverse on the web), you can download and read the fabulous (yet very lengthy) tale of my trip to Australia in a handy PDF form. In fact, you can go ahead and print it out for your own reading pleasure.

Once again, please feel free to leave comments and questions about the trip. Enjoy.

I am testing this at this moment.

I need a photo editor to make PNG transparent images. Any suggestions?

Okay, one more test.

Okay, thanks to PhotoFiltre, I am able to get this done. Kudo to members of Ars for their help in pointing out the value of this tool, although it can do with some more work (i.e. how in the world are we going to be able to use a bucket OUTSIDE the highlighted zone? Ah well. Now to find a good editor that can automate posting to a blog that uses WordPress, without the stupid advertisment attached to each post, and plain bad HTML coding.
